ISO 9001, a global standard for quality management, is to be revised. The chairman of SIS committee 304, Per Webb from Scania, explains that this is due to factors such as sustainability, digitalisation and artificial intelligence. ISO 9001 is more than just certification; it creates a structure for companies to ensure they can deliver what has been agreed with stakeholders.
The revision will be based on input from national committees in different countries and will take about three to five years. Webb encourages all businesses to get involved in the process to contribute to positive and sustainable standards development. Despite Sweden's small size, the country has had a great impact on ISO 9001's development process thanks to the active committee and its experienced participants. For more information about the upcoming revision of ISO 9001, please contact Ulrika Edholm, project manager at SIS.

This may mean that you need to update your internal processes, training and documentation to meet the new requirements. Once the new version of the standard is completed, there will likely be a transition period in which both the old and new versions of the standard are accepted. It is important to stay up to date on the revision process and prepare for any changes.
