What is a management system?

A management system describes how the organization is governed and operates. A good management system is both a tool for top management and a support for employees in their daily work. Depending on what you need, it covers areas such as quality, environment and information security.
ISO-Certifiering

What is an ISO standard?

A standard is a collection of knowledge in a specific field that is internationally recognized. ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization that brings together experts to develop global standards. For example, ISO 9001 is a standard that shows that you meet requirements in quality management and ISO 14001 is a standard for environmental management.

What is a certified management system?

Once the management system is set up, you can prove to an external auditor from a certification body, during a certification audit, that your management system meets the requirements of one or more standards. If all goes well, you will then receive your certificate. Thus, you can have and work according to a management system without being certified for that matter.
The requirements

How

How do I set up a management system?

Understand the requirements

You need to understand the requirements and goals that your organization has. If you are going for an external certification, you also need to understand the requirements of the ISO standards that you wish to certify against. This will give you a basic understanding of what it takes to build an ISO certificated management system.

Map current processes

Make a map of your current processes, routines and ways of working. This will help you identify which areas already meet the requirements and which need to be improved or introduced to meet the requirements.

Engage the management team

To succeed, it is critical that the management team is engaged and involved in the process. Make sure they are informed about how it will affect and improve operations, as well as what resources are needed to implement the changes.

Design and implement a management system

Based on the mapping and understanding of the requirements, design and implement a management system that covers all the necessary areas. This can include creating new processes, procedures, documentation and training staff in the new ways of working, as well as ensuring proper follow-up and continuous improvement.

Conduct internal audit and prepare for certification audit

Conduct internal audits to ensure that the management system is functioning and that improvements are made continuously. When you feel ready, conduct a certification audit where an external auditor will assess whether your management system meets the requirements of the chosen ISO standard.
