What is Goal Management?

Goal management is a system that aims to create focus and deliver results. It involves identifying objectives, defining milestones and following up metrics that can prove whether or not the target has been met - and to what extent.

Define clear and measurable goals

Why is Goal Management Important?

Having well-defined and measurable goals is critical to success, whether you're a CEO, management team member, or just looking to do your best at work.

Goal management creates a foundation for decision making, resource allocation and seeing if we actually succeed.

It ensures that everyone in the organization is working towards the same overall purpose and that everyone's work is coordinated and effective.

Good goals are also linked to the company's vision and mission, are clear and are achievable within a desired time frame.

How do I Get Started in the Easiest Way Possible?

Starting to work systematically with goals in your organization doesn't have to be complicated. Here are some concrete steps that you can follow:

  1. Define clear and measurable goals:
Start by analyzing the company's overall vision and strategy. What are your main priorities and what do you want to achieve? Formulate smart goals that support these priorities (Specific, Measurable, Acceptable, Realistic, and Timed).
  2. Communicate the objectives:
Make sure everyone in the organization is aware of and understands the goals set. Open and transparent communication is the key to creating engagement and understanding.
  3. Create action plans:
Develop action plans that describe how to achieve the goal, what resources are needed, and who is responsible for implementation.
  4. Measure and follow up:
Implement regular follow-ups and evaluations of the status of the objectives. Use KPIs to measure progress and performance. If the goals are not achieved, analyze the causes and take measures to improve.
  5. Celebrate successes and learn from failures:
When goals are achieved, celebrate the successes and learn from the experience. If goals are not achieved, use it as an opportunity to understand what went wrong and how the process can be improved.

Goal management is a powerful system to drive your organization towards continuous improvement and success. By following these simple steps, you can create a culture of responsibility, commitment and results, while meeting the requirements of ISO 9001 and 14001.
